Production Description
Electric Resistance Welded Pipe(ERW steel pipe)
Electric Resistance Welded tube, commonly known as ERW pipe, is a type of steel tubing that’s produced through the process of electric resistance welding. This method involves passing an electric current through the edges of a steel strip, heating them to a molten state. Pressure is then applied to join the edges together fusing the two edges and thereby forming a solid tube.

Manufacturing Process

Common Applications of ERW Pipes in various industries:
1. Construction industry:
ERW pipes are commonly used for water supply and drainage systems, gas pipelines, and structural support columns. ERW pipes are popular due to their affordability and strength, making them ideal for use in construction projects.
2. Oil and gas industry:
ERW pipes are widely used in the oil and gas industry to transport oil and gas from drilling sites to refineries. They are used for both onshore and offshore applications and are popular due to their resistance to corrosion and durability. ERW pipes are also used for oil and gas pipelines, drilling casings, and refineries.
3. Automotive industry:
ERW pipes are used in the manufacturing of automobiles, bicycles, and other vehicles. They are commonly used for exhaust systems, frames, and suspension components due to their strength and durability. ERW pipes are also used for air conditioning and heating systems in vehicles.
4. Agriculture industry:
ERW pipes are commonly used in the agriculture industry for irrigation systems, greenhouse construction, and fencing. They are popular due to their affordability and strength, making them ideal for use in agricultural applications.
5. Mining industry:
ERW pipes are used in the mining industry to transport materials and equipment. They are used for pipelines, conveyors, and structural support components due to their strength and durability. ERW pipes are also used for water supply and drainage systems in mining operations.

What is the Difference Between ERW pipes vs Seamless Steel?
ERW Pipe
ERW pipes are manufactured by rolling a steel strip into a cylindrical shape and welding the edges together using electric resistance. This welding creates a durable tube with a nearly invisible seam, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Seamless Steel Pipe
In contrast, seamless steel pipes are produced by piercing a solid steel billet and elongating it to form a tube without any welding or joints. This process results in a completely smooth surface and a structure free from weld lines, offering superior strength and reliability.
Key Differences:
1. ERW pipe is also more affordable to manufacture than seamless steel pipes, without there being a significant deficit in quality.
2. ERW steel tubes are available in a wider range of sizes and shapes, thanks to their manufacturing process.
3. ERW steel pipe is more practical and can be cut to size at Rayoung to whatever dimensions you require.
4. Seamless steel tubes to be more resistant to corrosion due to its smooth, uniform surface without weld lines. This makes it a preferred choice for industries where corrosion could be an issue, such as oil and gas.

With advanced welding techniques, the gap between the two has narrowed, making ERW pipes a reliable option for many non-critical and medium-pressure applications.
